§ 13-41. Municipal judge.

  • The chief administrative municipal judge shall be an attorney who is a member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar with criminal trial experience. The city council shall appoint the chief administrative municipal judge for a term not to exceed four years or until a successor is elected and qualified. Appointment shall be at the pleasure of city council. The chief administrative municipal judge shall preside over the various terms and sessions of court; provide guidance, direct and oversee the assistant or presiding municipal judges, and shall faithfully perform the judicial and administrative duties of the municipal court; direct and oversee the judicial and clerical personnel of the municipal court; and establish, review and revise the policies and procedures of the court. All such duties shall be exercised in accordance with the state law, municipal ordinances, and the policies and procedures of the city.
