§ 17-22. Refuse receptacles to be safe.

  • All refuse receptacles as required in this article shall be of safe construction and design and shall be maintained in a good, serviceable, and sanitary condition at all times. Any refuse receptacle which does not conform to the provisions of this article, or which has ragged or sharp edges or other defects likely to hamper or injure the person collecting the contents thereof or the public generally, shall be promptly replaced upon notice. If the refuse receptacles, after due and proper notice, have not been replaced, the sanitation division, department of public works, shall have the authority to remove the refuse receptacle as refuse.
