§ 17-42. Transfer station procedures.

  • Provided the city's solid waste superintendent determines that adequate operating capacity exists under applicable industry standards, the transfer station shall process waste collected and delivered to it by city equipment and personnel, other municipalities, other governments, residents of the city and businesses located within the city limits.

    Further, provided the superintendent determines that the remaining operating capacity exists under applicable industry standards, the transfer station may process waste collected and delivered to it by private haulers, businesses located outside the city limits and persons who are not residents of the city.

    Except for the city and household residential use by residents of the city, all other users shall pay a fee. Noncommercial household residential use by residents living outside the city limits shall pay $5.00 per car, $10.00 per pick-up truck and $20.00 per pick-up truck and trailer. Commercial users, including but not limited to other municipalities, other governments or businesses or private haulers located inside or outside the city limits shall pay a processing and transportation fee of $18.00 for each ton or part thereof. Further, a tipping fee based on each ton or part thereof as established by the Horry County Solid Waste Authority will be charged.
